About
A housing desk, not a newsroom
deaddreams.org explains how U.S. housing costs, ownership gates, and policy tools sit under the popular idea of the American Dream. It is a first-ship static site. It replaces an earlier Gamma page. This tree was written fresh; it is not a scrape of that deck.
Where it sits
Initiative and program copy belongs on affordablehousinginitiative.org. Nevada metro charts belong on nevadaeconomicforum.org. Technology-and-property notes belong on techandrealestate.com. Rate and market tape belongs on usmarketupdates.com and globalmarketupdates.com.
Methodology
- Prefer named public series over commentary: FHFA House Price Index, S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller, Census ACS housing costs, Census Housing Vacancies and Homeownership, Census New Residential Construction, BLS CPI rent of primary residence, HUD Fair Market Rents and cost-burden definitions, HMDA, and FHFA’s GSE conservatorship materials.
- When stating a claim pattern, cite the series by name. Omit a number unless this page is quoting a figure that a reader can check in that series. First ship omits the numbers.
- Label uncertainty in plain type: local markets that diverge from a national headline, invitations or bills that are not law, and any figure we cannot tie to a public official source.
- Never invent home prices, rent medians, price-to-income ratios, “cost-burden” percentages, inventory counts, or program-dollar totals.
What this site is not
It is not a government website, a lender, a brokerage, or a live wire. It does not sell houses, rate neighborhoods, or take a brief for a party. Advocacy copy and deal flow belong elsewhere.
Machine-readable companions for agents live at /llm-info, /llms.txt, /ai.txt, and /agents.txt.
